Neville Lodge Original Cartoon

A rare original Neville Lodge cartoon on Grand Hotel, Wanganui letterhead dedicated 'To Bernice' showing a hotel receptionist holding a can of 'Klim' talking to a colleague saying 'That ex-prisoner of war said he was broke, but left this - said it was worth more than mere dough'. Signed 'Neville Lodge, 24 June, 62'

Neville Lodge (1918 - 1989) had a long association with Wellington's 'Evening Post'.

Serving as a corporal in WWII  he was captured by the Germans at El Alamein and entertained fellow prisoners and guards with his comic sketches.

After the wart he began life as a freelance cartoonist.
