Sir Robert Muldoon 1921 - 1992, New Zealand's Prime Minister 1975 -1984. To supporters he was the voice of the 'ordinary bloke'; to critics he was a dictatorial bully. Defeated by Labour's David Lange in 1984 in a surprise snap election, he remained on National's back benches until shortly before his death in 1992.
