A4 typed letter on Prime Ministerial letterhead dated 15 March, 1985 signed by Prime Minister David Lange.

Letter contents relate to the Homosexual Law Reform Bill -  'The existing law is irrational, unequal in application, and has been spectacularly unsuccessful. It is a demonstration of the inability of statute law to deliver conformity to moral or religious codes.

David Lange 1942-2005, was New Zealand Labour Prime Minister 1984 to 1989. Well known for his cutting wit, his legacy was New Zealand's nuclear-free legislation.
