Entirely in the hand of Evita Peron (1919-1952), second wife of Argentinian President Juan Peron.
A radio & screen actress before her marriage in 1945, she became a powerful political influence and the mainstay of the Peron government. She was idolised by the poor, and after her death in Buenos Aires, support for her husband waned. Her body was stolen, taken to Europe, and kept in secret until 1976 when it was returned with great fanfare to Buenos Aires where it remains today. The successful musical 'Evita' (1979) was based on her life.
The note translated reads: 'For the store-rooms of the F(oundation) new sewing machines (Suizonte or Guigonte)
(Note; Suizonte or Guigonte seems to be the brand of sewing machine)
And more toys for the children of the home'
