Notes on a sheet of paper 23cm x 15cm entirely in the hand of Eva (Evita) Peron (1919 - 1952) in fountain pen.
Translated the notes read: ' 'Fatty' Coocke will look after the group in Congress but I will go tomorrow'
Note: 'Gordo' or 'Fatty' is a term of endearment. Coocke was a well known Peronista.
'Take out (disconnent) the installations in the home of C. Calvo. There is no gas'
Note: Carlos Calvo is a well known street in Buenos Aires.
'I will deal with Mendez'
'The statutes of the F'
Note: 'F' refers to the Fundacion - that is the Foundation Eva Peron.
'With Fr Benitez or for Capello'
Note: Capello was the cardinal in Buenos Aires.
The second wife of Argentine President Juan Peron and First Lady of Argentina from 1946 until her early death from cancer, aged 33, in 1952.
A radio and screen actress before her marriage in 1945, she became a powerful political influence and worked tirelessly on bettering the lives of women and also the poor. She was idolized by the people and on her death was given a state funeral, normally only reserved for heads of state.
In 1978, Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber based the popular musical 'Evita' on the life of Eva Peron.
