King George VI

A letter on the King's personal stationery in the hand of King George VI to Mr Gillan, Head Keeper and dated August 27th, 1950 and signed GR (George Rex). The text reads ' The guns for tomorrow are :- The King, The Count of Barcelona, Lord Salisbury, Lord Dalhousie, Lord John Hope, Hon David Bowes Lyon, Mr Simon Bowes Lyon (one gun) Sir H Campbell. The King also requests '5 Loaders'.

In all likelihood, the shoot would've taken place at Sandringham in Norfolk, UK, currently the private home of Queen Elizabeth II, whose father George VI and grandfather George V both died there. The house stands in 20,000 acre estate.
